very good fitness article
I've been doing several hours of research every night about diet and nutrition. I've learned an awful lot about everything. Now I just have to put a plan into action!

I stumbled upon this link which I think is very good. It's aimed at bodybuilders but the information can apply to anybody looking to get in shape.

http://www.t-nation.com/readTopic.do?id=1268956

Short Version:

1. Diet and lose fat until your body fat % is around 10% (you should see abs or at least have a very flat stomach). Do strength training to prevent muscle loss during diet.
2. Once you get to 10%bf, eat and exercise properly to build muscle without getting any fatter. If you do it properly, you will always look good, be in shape, and get stronger continuously. And you'll never have to diet again :)

I've already lost 10 lbs in the past 2 months just by changing my diet. I think I'll just keep doing this for a while and see where it takes me...

I've also been researching it quite a bit lately also. Just remember that you want to eat 5-6 times a day preferably. This puts calories into you when you need, and use them, rather than eating only a few meals a day and stockpiling them. And of course I'm sure you know the importance of what to eat and when to eat it if you've been researching it :D Protein before and after workouts moreso than the rest of the day, and get plenty of carbs so you actually have the energy to have energy throughout the day :D

A lot of the research I've been doing lately leads to the fact that besides eating the wrong things, the biggest problem with the conventional diet is that people don't eat enough.

Hello, Faranim.

I've been reading your Journal since I've started playing FFXI on Seraph over 3 years ago, but that is not what I'm about to ramble about.

Seeing as you've decided to diet and exercise while being 'busy' with your daily activities and work, I'd like to recommend you a nice book...

http://www.amazon.co.uk/30-minute-day-Challenge-Simon-Waterson/dp/0007156073/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1/202-2327060-7455861?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1174888572&sr=8-1

I acquired this book for my dad because it's very user-friendly and focuses on people that don't have the time or means to use the proper utilities or visit the gym. It has a nice structure of everything you need to know (you've researched dieting and exercising already), but it differs in that it has several training regimes that suit your specific goals or needs.

It focuses on very intense but short exercises for at best an hour a day but mostly about 35 to 40 minutes a day, varies greatly from day to day and offers you 4, 8 or 12 week 'plans' and schedules (body weight, upper body, abdominals, lower body, general fitness, power/explosive body, skiing/sport fitness).

I've started on 'Fat/weight loss' plan two weeks ago to test and see if my dad could do it (he's overweight - by about 60 pounds <_<). I must say it was hard for the first week but if you bear with it your body gets really fit and used to dealing with all of the muscle groups you didn't even know existed on you. =D The only gear you need is a set of dumbbells and the floor mat and you're ready to go at it at home. My first time posting on your journal! I'll give you a /wave if I meet you again on Seraph. Cheers! ^_^

Thanks for the link to the article. Was a good read. I've also been working out/dieting for the last 4-5 months since finishing school. I've lost about 20lbs now and gained a lot better muscle definition. But then again I've put off getting a real job and working out 4hrs a day instead. My biggest problem is my diet, I find it so hard to the correct foods, but I have been able to space my eatting into 5-6 meals a day, just not very healthy meals overall. Also sweets are a killer for me.
