Interesting article about IQ vs Sex
http://www.gnxp.com/blog/2007/04/intercourse-and-intelligence.php

Kind of a strange coincidence I stumbled upon this article while bored at work today. It seems fairly accurate to me, especially the listing of reasons why somebody of high intelligence usually also has characteristics which reduce their chances of having sex.

Funny thing is, the "smart" people writing the article / blogs are searching for reasons to explain this. And they still don't get it...

Smart people think too much. Substitute IQ with "thinking."

More thinking = less sex.

This is pretty much common sense, I thought. Firstly, a guy who overthinks what to say to a chick will talk himself out of even approaching her, or pretty much come off as contrived if he does say anything. Secondly, if that guy manages to get her attention, she'll lose interest quickly if he keeps overthinking during the conversation.

A guy who just grunts to a girl will have a better shot to get laid more times than not, over a guy who overthinks.

So, yeah... This whole "study" could/should have concluded one simple thing. More thinking = less sex.

This is exactly what happens to me. I've been in plenty of situations where I think "I should kiss this person right now" (both guys and girls), but I always talk myself out of it for fear of doing something wrong, stepping out of my league, etc.

Maybe next time I get that feeling I should just kiss the person and see what happens :D

(Apparently those most likely to read Darwin are also the least Darwinian!)

^= Gold

It all makes sense though, testosterone promotes all the behavior associated more with animal traits for survival. Animal traits hinder intelligence.

Though its really sad, you'd think in our society where everything revolves around technology intelligence would outweigh bicep size for priorities in partners. Then again how many people actually understand the technology they use?

Most of the really, truly smart people I know are either so hopelessly socially inadequate that a naked girl/guy sitting on their lap could not initiate sex with them, or they have such an inflated opinion of their own worth that it's a chore to be around them. I can see why both of these groups would have difficulties having sex.

There are many assumptions in this survey.

I mean no offense, but looking at IQ (although it has been a foundation for intelligence value for many, many years) is not really a qualifying factor for a smart person. There have been many studies which have shown that IQ does not directly correlate to success in life. I would go so far as to say that it is a possibility that the reason for the lack of sexual intercourse in many of these subjects is a disabled emotional intelligence. For instance, a lack of interpersonal intelligence.

I believe this study lack conclusive evidence for any of its research, because of the narrow thought pattern it follows.

If we are going to look into IQ as the foundation of this experiment, I would also look into the studies of LeDoux, Howard Garnder, and Antonio Damasio. High IQ does not always equal good decision making or applicable intelligence in society.
